Our team of 150 dedicated cooks and deliverers provide healthy and nutritious meals to housebound residents of Lingfield, Dormansland, Felcourt and Crowhurst every week of the year, Monday to Thursday. All meals are freshly cooked in our designated kitchen in the Jennings Hall at the Community Centre.
On Fridays, we run a fish and chip service, delivering freshly prepared meals from the local Fish and Chip shop in Lingfield.
Meals on Wheels is not only about the food. To many of our clients, the daily contact with our friendly deliverers is the opportunity for a chat and can often be the only person they see that day.
Who can apply?
We provide Meals on Wheels to elderly and vulnerable people who find it difficult to provide regular meals for themselves.
We also provide short term help to people who are temporarily incapacitated due to illness or accident.
When you apply, your individual needs will be assessed and we will tell you if we can help.
How much will I pay?
We strive to keep charges as low as possible and, with the help of a subsidy from Surrey County Council, our meals cost just £2.50 per day. Our Fish and Chip service costs around £4.30
How do I get Meals on Wheels?
We know that some people don’t like to ask for help so we do take referrals from family, friends or neighbours of elderly or housebound people who may benefit from Meals on Wheels. We currently have a few vacancies so can take new applications with no waiting list.
If you, or someone you know, would like to apply for Meals on Wheels, please contact us by calling Pat Smith or Sara Watson on 07504 481289 or Debbie Doran on 01342 843098
VOLUNTEER FOR US
Our volunteers are a vital part of our organisation and without them we could not provide this essential service.
Not only do we rely on them to cook and deliver the meals but also to help with an array of ‘back room’ jobs such as cleaning, laundry, purchasing and accounts.
We would like to hear from you if you can spare some time to help in any role in the Meals on Wheels team. Cooks and deliverers work on a rota and take a turn once every five weeks.
For more information please contact: Julie Cleaver on 01342 300024 or email firstname.lastname@example.org

Lingfield & Dormansland Meals on Wheels have been busy behind the scenes over the last few months. We have formed a management committee and now, after a lot of hard work, we are registered with the Charity Commission. This charitable status will allow us to apply for grant funding from a variety of sources to support and develop the service for the future.
The Committee is made up of Sara Watson (Chair), Pat Smith (Treasurer), Sally Knight (Secretary), Debby Doran, Julie Cleaver, Gail Nichols, Evelyn Nickford and Joanne Powell.
Congratulations are in order for the Lingfield & Dormansland Meals on Wheels team which has won an award at the Living and Ageing Well awards held in Dorking on November 18th.
The awards, promoted and sponsored by Surrey County Council and Age UK Surrey, invited nominations for individuals and organisations which make their community a better place to live for older people.
Meals on Wheels Co-ordinators Pat Smith and Sara Watson were at Wednesday’s ceremony and were delighted to be announced winners of the of the Help at Home Award. Pat said “We are thrilled to win this award. We believe Meals on Wheels is a vital service within our community and this award is recognition for all the hard work and dedication of our volunteers over the years”
