in the Community Centre car park on

The aim of Lingfield Eco Awareness Day is to give local people practical help, advice and information as well as show

casing some of the best products around. Supporting the exhibition will be a series of talks further illustrating how local people can make

a difference. Lingfield is a vibrant community, with an amazingly active Community Centre.  It recently won Surrey Village of the Year and is a

Fairtrade certified area. ‘Lingfield Eco Awareness Day’ is intended to increase people’s awareness of how they can help reduce their

carbon footprint. ‘Reduce, recycle and reuse’. Lingfield is prime commuter-belt country and has a discerning population where the

strength of the green pound is high.

 

Peter Ainsworth our MP for East Surrey who lives in the village, will be opening the event in conjunction with the Parish Council. 

Peter is the conservative Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, and has given valuable support to the

steering group.  Local Schools have been invited and there will be exhibits to excite, inform and involve youngsters.

Many well know organisations and businesses will be exhibiting.

Peak Oil – What is it? And how should communities respond

We have used up half of the world’s oil reserves during the last 100 years, and we will use up the second half a lot faster than the first.

This will affect every aspect of our lives, especially food security. Several communities in the UK are preparing for the transition already.
